Replacement Bridge for 68’ Fender Telecaster Bass

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by Steviewevie95, Feb 22, 2018.

  1. I was wondering if anyone knew off a bridge that would fit on a Fender Telecaster bridge from 1968 - same bridge as a 54’

I don’t mind mods on my vintage basses, this bass already has tuners that are on there last legs and the original pickup broke (replaced with a Lindy Fralin split 51 P and sanded off the house paint finish I found it originally in.)

Preferably I’d like a Badass II like bridge because I know the Hipshot Kickass bridge didn’t require any drilling on my 77 J bass and has been probably been one of the best upgrades I’ve done to it besides swapping out the corroding original pickups with a PJ Seymour Antiquity II pickups.

    Anything helps! 80831ABC-DB00-4FC9-B80B-7F153DB74248.jpeg 1CE71C95-405B-4EE7-B638-E9CBFA3F8982.jpeg BB89BACD-A7CF-4AA6-9036-533DA6ABE98B.jpeg A0CBE297-AB00-4F58-8C77-E6B123AB7A40.jpeg 2EC060B7-49BC-479D-9ADB-38E048EE4A6B.jpeg 6A757FCC-6CD6-46D9-8E2E-3F61CF988EB8.jpeg 80831ABC-DB00-4FC9-B80B-7F153DB74248.jpeg 1CE71C95-405B-4EE7-B638-E9CBFA3F8982.jpeg BB89BACD-A7CF-4AA6-9036-533DA6ABE98B.jpeg A0CBE297-AB00-4F58-8C77-E6B123AB7A40.jpeg 2EC060B7-49BC-479D-9ADB-38E048EE4A6B.jpeg 6A757FCC-6CD6-46D9-8E2E-3F61CF988EB8.jpeg

If your Tele bass has a typical 3 mountings screw bridge, and you want a badass style bridge, you will have to hunt down a Badass III (three) for a drop-in replacement. The Leo Quan bridges are out of production, and I don’t think Hipshot or Omega have a Badass III version.

  3. I actually just found a couple on Reverb. They’re a little pricy but it’d probably make that Telecaster bass roar and sustain like crazy.

  4. I also found Hipshot has a bridge that has a string through 3 screw mount with their B Style Bridges.

I think the bridge used on Fender US Deluxe basses with 3 screw mounting, the ability to top load and through-body stringing and a fairly high mass design. Pretty sure it drops right in a Tele bass, as it does with early 50s Ps. part #0058396000

or more likely it will make essentially no difference at all; nothing wrong with the stock bridge.

if you gotta have four adjustable saddles then get yourself a fender american standard or deluxe bridge, those should work nicely
