    Hey all,
A cone on an old Avatar cab of mine got torn when my friend was dinking around with it. He asked me to find a replacement that I'd pay him for, but for the life of me, I can't find any Kappa Pro 10 speakers at 16 ohms. And recone kits have a bunch of stuff in the kit besides the cone and cost like 60+ bucks. Is there anywhere I should look for replacement or that I could find just the cone for replacement?

You generally can't repair a speaker by just replacing the soft parts and you probably will want to have a pro do the job anyway.

There's always this option too: Custom Speakers | Eminence Speaker

    Best of luck!

Contact Avitar, maybe they have them in stock.

You can't replace just the cone, that's simply impossible.

$60 for a cone kit is very reasonable in my mind. :)

Though what I have seen of DIY attempts has been pretty lacking, so add another $30-$40 for labor.

The suggestion to contact Avatar to see if they have a 16 ohm driver in stock is a good suggestion.

Otherwise Eminence Speaker will be able to make a 16 ohm Kappa Pro for you.
The Custom shop is able to produce whatever impedance is needed.
There is a additional 15% added to the cost for a single custom order.
You can call the custom shop during business hours.

    (502) 845-5622 ext. 341

There is also a label on your driver and Eminence will be able to tell the specs
    And build a new one.

    They also stock recone kits.
And as with all Eminence drivers
Standard Series have no recone kits.
Only cast frame Pro Series drivers have recone kits.
So there is a few options for you. Hope one works out. Avatar, Custom shop, or recone.

After labor and parts cost, it's sometimes easier to buy a new driver.

Agreed. I do have a speaker guy I trust close to me and all my repairs go to him. All my JBL drivers have seen his tender touch. :)

I should add that I bought the JBLs cheaply as they needed recones.

To recone properly, and for the speaker to meet factory specifications (including power handling and reliability), it takes a fair amount of time and dedication to the details. The older JBL drivers were especially tough as there was not much room to work, tight tolerance and short, large diameter bobbins/VC's.

Agreed but my guy knows what he is doing and used the correct parts. :)
