Any tips/thoughts/musings on replacing a late-90's Starfire nut?

A friend passed the bass down to me... minus the nut... and I am just not sure what the size is to replace it with or where to get something pre-cut (if that exists). Thoughts?

I found an old DeArmond ad that I think lists the nut as 1.6825", but I can't seem to find any nuts that fit that size.

  2. Take it to a tech and just get one made for it. I can't think of anything off the shelf that would work as it needs to be a Gibson style (back angled) part. Not to say it doesn't exist but a properly cut and installed piece made for it specifically would be better than a generic

Good opportunity to get a brass nut cut for it. That would be pretty good!

Yep get a nice Real bone nut made. As for the above suggestion, I can’t think of one reason why someone would want to put a brass nut on a hollow body bass.

Thanks for recommendations, I have an appointment with Mouradian Guitar near Boston to get a custom one cut.
