Does anybody have experience replacing their pickguard on a Fender 62 AVRI Precision? I want to replace the tort pickguard with a black one. Does the standard fender replacement one fit the 62 reissue?

  2. No but Fender sells a '62 AV replacement that should drop right in.

Actually, the Fender 13-hole does drop right in, but you'll need to drill holes for the tugbar and pickup cover if you use those. Best bet is getting one for a Mexi Standard because the American Std pickguard has a notch cut out for truss rod access.

I replaced mine on my former 62. Pulled the anno guard when I sold it to fund my 63.

As I recall, I had to drill a single hole to line up with the pattern on the anno guard.

Just buy a 62 RI black one. You can find one on eBay for less than $30
