I have a '98 Ibanez SR400fl fretless with active eq and flats. while the stock pups do their job I've always considered replacing them. It has a p+j configuration.

Does anyone know if there are any jazz pups I can drop in at the bridge that won't require additional routing of the pickup cavity? My understanding is on many imported basses the jazz pickup cutouts are tricky.

Not many - but some ...

Can you tell us the width of your J PU?
I only know the width in mm by heart. Normal J-necks have 92mm and normal bridge js have 95mm ...

It would help a lot to know the with of your J (in mm or inch).
Even if you J had 92mm it would be no problem putting in a "neck J".
Ps together with a SC-J always hum (3coils), Ps together with a HB-J never hum (4 coils).
