First off, Who makes MEC pickups? What other brands besides Warwick uses them?

Last, What do you think my Corvette std. 5 string sound like if I replaced the MEC pickups with Fender J style pickups?????

MEC is a German company (I think) and some other German bass companies brands used them, but now they're OEMs for Warwick only as far as I know. The bass probably will get noisier, because all(?) MEC PUs are humbuckers, whereas Fender PUs generally are single-coils (except the Preci). Plus, I don't think that the sound will improve...

Better get some other high-quality humbuckers like Bartolinis or BassLines...

If it ain't broken, don't fix it...
