replacing neck on a p bass

    i have a p bass with a busted neck so I ve decided to try an replace it my self . I'm waiting on my mighty mite neck to come in now . but dont really have a clue how to go about mounting it.any tips on squaring it up and any other suggestions would be helpful.thanks

    The method that works for me is to:

    -Mount tuners onto the headstock.
    -Gently clamp the neck to the body (make sure you put something soft in there to prevent scuffing), and string up the bass with light tension.
    -Adjust the neck angle so that the strings are 'centered' on the fretboard.
    -Mark the hole locations
    -Drill.
    -Mount.
    -Enjoy.

    I got the new neck today looks nice seems to be well made havent checked for fit yet.i was wondering how deep to drill the pilot holes.dummie me wasnt going to use the old neck or plate or the old screws so they got trashed .now i cant measure the holes or the old screws.havent ordered the new plate yet and some dont come with screws and i would like to get the right ones when i order.
