Replacing "Soapbar" on Yamaha BBN4

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by ArchBass, Mar 22, 2001.

  1. I am curious to find out what different brand of pickups are out there that I could use to replace the factory installed pickups on my BBN4III. From what I have read, my bass actually has P-style pickups, two sets that are covered to look like two big pickup "Soapbar".

I am probably showing my ignorance here but would really like any advise.

I have a BBG4S with the same sized soapbars.
I have looked into replacing them and found out that these pickups are 6-string sized. I don't know why Yamaha did this, but anyways...

Some 6-string pickups would probably work OK tho, ask someone who knows more about it.

  3. Tristan thanks for the reply. I was starting to wonder if I stumped everyone (I don't think so) or they didn't understand my question (More like it).

I guess I will go talk to someone local and get their opinion.

    Thanks again.
