About how often should you replace your strings, and what kind of products are best to keep the strings clean and sounding the best?

There is really no set time table to follow when it comes to changing strings. It depends on how you like them to feel and sound. Older strings won't be as bright as new ones, but the new ones won't have that "broken in" sound and feel. I probably change my strings on the average of once a month.

I don't use any special products to keep them clean, either. After 'shedding, rehearsal, or a gig (especially after a gig,) I wipe the strings with a cloth. Some people boil their strings to rejuvenate them (and clean them in the process.)
