Can anyone recommend places that make short scale bass necks that can go on an SX SPB-57? I checked Warmoth and it looks like their web site only mentions 34" bass necks.

When you find one let me know too.

Rondo don't sell shortscale necks (I emailled and asked).
Warmoth mentioned here about a year ago that they were tooled up for 30" and 32" necks and that they'd be available sometime, but they haven't eventuated yet.
USACG do a 30" Bass VI neck.
    Landing won't sell necks seperately.

That's all I can think of unless you get someone to custom make one.

Here is the $64,000 question: Why do you need a new neck??

I could use one for a Mustang Bass. Because it's cheaper than a refret.

Because I prefer the feel of a wenge neck with ebony fingerboard to maple.

As for the $64k you owe me, I accept VISA, MasterCard, and PayPal.

That's cool. I just can't see putting THAT much into an SX bass. I did put Barts in my Brice Douglas 5, but I bought that bass during the "clearance" so my sunk $ with the barts is about $40 more than if I had bought the bass for the normal price.

Speaking for myself, because Rondo only ship UPS, and that's worth a couple of times more than the bass would cost. None of my friends in the US (non musos) are comfortable seperating the neck and USPS-ing one to me. Best I can tell the shorties aren't imported into Australia. Pity.

    ??

I asked about replacing the stock neck on my SX SPB-57 because I prefer the feel of wenge/ebony to maple. How would buying another one help?

you buy another Sx from Rhondo for the short scale feel
rather than swaping necks on your current bass

to upgrade the neck is more expensive than to buy another SX

dharma - I saw one of those SX threads where Aussies found a store with a showroom - sure they could get short scales there - search away
