I'm starting on a couple of projects including the rewiring of my original Vantage Bass (passive/2 p-style pickups) and a long term project of building a new bass (probably bartolini MM or Soapbar and a j-style pickup w/ Bart preamp).

Having never done anything with the electronics on a bass, I was wondering if there is any good resource out there on the basics of wiring a bass. I guess individual companies have instructions for installing their particular pickups, but I would hate to buy stuff and then find out it doesn't fit or some other problems.

I'm looking for some pretty basic stuff, like which wires go where on the jack, how to reinstall a pickup selector switch, etc.

If anyone has suggestions, I'd sure appreciate it!

"Standard Wiring Diagrams" looks like a good place
to start. No schematic reading necessary ;) .

When it was first published, Craig Anderton's
"Electronic Projects for Musicians" had a
good introductory section...this is an iron, this is a
    resistor, etc.

Be sure the practice - practice - practice soldering
on some junk stuff to get a good "feel" for it.
