restoring the carpet on an amp

I have an old SWR Workingman's 15 I got off of C.L. I cleaned all the pots and it sounds pretty good. The outside of the amp was covered in dirt and cat hair. :spit: I cleaned it with a stiff brush and carpet cleaner, then vacummed it thoroughly.
It's clean now but it still lookes thrashed. Full of pills and rough places where it looks like a cat used it for a scratching post. Is ther anyway to restore the exterior short of replacing the whole carpet?

A lot of that carpet is plasticy and sort of melts/shrinks when it burns. You can try hitting it with a heat gun or a blow torch. Obviously don't hold it in one spot too long.:p. Practice on the bottom first.

I've also seen guys roll over the carpet with clear polyurethane. Let it soak in and dry.

Tear that old crap off and start over. If you decide to, email me and I will walk you through the process. You can make your cab look new for maybe 30 bucks or so. You will never make that old crap look new. It's really quite easy, once you know how. Neo1125-27-09006. Neo1125-27-09007. Neo1125-27-09010968x648. Neo1125-27-090111278x855.
