Has anyone changed the tubes in their SVT3-pro? i think i'd like to get better tubes than the current stock sovteks. I'd liketo get a less "driven" sound, also i'm not likeing the "grit" that i'm gettin now that i'm running the amp at 4ohms. With an 8ohm load, this thing sounded exactly the way i wanted, but now that it's running at full power, it sounds totally different. could this be that the tubes are running hotter?? Thanks in advance for any feedback
Since the amp has a solid state power section the pre-amp tubes will not run hotter the run the same temp regardless of the load. This only occurs in the power valves in heads such as the SVT-2 Pro and the Mesa Bass 400+.
Thank you , psycho and pick, That clears up alot of questions that i had. I think it's about time to get rid of this head, since i can't stand the way that it sounds, and they lie about what kinda power it's capable of putting out. I've got GAS for a SWR head anyway!!
