Revenge of the 1980's!

  1. So I just got out of my Delorian time machine (if you're going to build a time machine, might as do it with style!) and returned from the 1980s with the following high tech bass guitar system:

    :bag:

It's my new toy. It's called a "synthesizer" - it's the latest craze, and will likely be timeless! :ninja:

    Hahaha

I've owned the guitar (on right) for 19 years, and just recently acquired the bass - complete with 24 pin cable and fully functioning floor synth board! It's pure 80's bliss.

And if it wasn't odd enough, this one has been converted to fretless - so it's like playing a fretless synth. Radical! :hyper:

    AWESOME! That looks like fun!!!

  3. Cool! I was expecting a Steinberger

  4. I should probably throw in the actual model # in case someone does a search at some point in the future. I think there's all of 3 threads containing this bass in the history of TB! ;)

    Roland G77 bass
    Roland GR-77B Synth

Really can't help but grin while playing this thing... :D

    That is SO COOL!:hyper:

I used to play in a new wave band (me on simmons drums) with a fellow who had one of those roland basses. He was the mack daddy back then.

I almost bought one at a Houston GC earlier this decade. Unfortunately, the module wasn't working, and the bass had been ragged with a bad neck repair and I couldn't get a signal out of it at all.

I really wanted it, so if you ever decide to sell yours, come back to this thread and contact me.

Awesome, But be sure it can get the cool Wham, Bananarama,Cyndi Lauper, and Culture Club sounds.:D:D

Throw it away if it sounds anything like AC/DC or Aerosmith or any of the other yucky bands.:D:D

is that black thing connecting the body and the headstock the flux capacitor?

  17. If he owns those two instruments then the Members Only and Ray Ban aviators are already there.

DOOOD, I had the G33 by roland. This thing makes the coolest synth tones. only real drawback; low E and sometimes the A have tracking issues. simple fix though, use the octave down and play up on the neck.
The 77 does a lot more than my old 33. as a gear junkie, I am jealous. you have the equivalent of an Edsel in your midst!
