Reverb Pedal Question

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by Slackerprince, Apr 29, 2009.

  1. I am interested in adding some Reverb to my sound, and did a search here and couldn't find any info.
The only Reverb pedal I could find on MF is this:
It's pretty spendy and wondering if anyone has any other suggestions in the $150 range.
I want to add some spatial/echo to my sound and wondering what others use.
    Would a g*@tar pedal work?
    Any info would be appreciated.

The EBS is a great pedal, but you don't need a bass specific reverb pedal. In fact, the best one I've heard on bass is the Dr. Scientist, which was designed for guitar - also very spendy though.

    Some less expensive alternatives:

Line 6 Verbzilla (there's a video SpankyPants made floating around somewhere)
EHX Holy Grail Plus (the new XO model)
    Malekko Spring Chicken

All three are $150 or so new. I haven't tried the Malekko, but it and the Holy Grail are very simple 1 knob reverbs. The EHX sounds good and I'm imagining the Spring Chicken does too. The Line 6 has quite a few more options.

And of course, you can always get a reverb sound out of a delay with a short time.
  3. Great suggestions.
I already have a Carbon Copy, but it seems like overkill to use it for a little reverb.
I'll take a look at the Holy Grail.

  4. Don't forget the new Digitech Hardwire Reverb, also $150. All of these have discussed either a little or a lot in this forum, I'm surprised you found nothing in a search:confused:

I love the Dr. Scientist RRR. Definitely not cheap though.

The nano holy grail is around $120, and the holy grail+ is around $150. My regular holy grail died and I will be getting the nano version very soon. It's so tiny, will fit nicely in a nook or cranny on my board.
  7. The Marshall Reflector also gets a lot of love and is cheap.

I use the EHX Holy Grail. The first one. For me it's perfect, one knob no b.s.

    Get this http://www.guitarcenter.com/Danelectro-DJ-3-BLT-Slap-Echo-Pedal-151862-i1124593.gc

    Or this http://www.guitarcenter.com/Danelectro-DJ-4-Corned-Beef-Reverb-Pedal-151863-i1124594.gc

Or get both. They're a whopping $30 each.

This is $90 and has gobs of controls http://www.guitarcenter.com/Danelectro-DE-1-Dan-Echo-Guitar-Pedal-151855-i1124588.gc

Or for $150 get this http://www.guitarcenter.com/Danelectro-Spring-King-Spring-Reverb-151904-i1124617.gc

I've tried all but the last one; Dano just seems to understand reverb. I'd love to play with the Spring King, it has a kick pad that simulates an old amp getting the boots put to it.

Unless you're wanting to use reverb and delay together, the Carbon Copy does some great sounding reverb. You could use that $150 for someting else entirely.
