Reverend Rumblefish Upgrade?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by count_funkula, Oct 31, 2004.

  1. I've been doing a lot of slapping on my Reverend these days and while it sounds pretty good, I'd like a little more zing. Anyone else change the pickups in their Reverend? I don't want to mess up the great fingerstyle sound I get but like I said a bit more sizzle on top would be nice.

    Should I:

Change the pickups (must have white pickup covers)
Get a simple onboard pre with a passive/active switch
Get a outboard pre our EQ pedal to adjust my sound

    Any recommendations?

I'd get an outboard preamp. You can use it with all your basses, and you won't mess up your Reverend.

I've played a Reverend, have a lot of repsect for them, and they are no longer being manufactured. I wouldn't touch it. Try a compressor or play with your amp's tone controls more before going with an outboard preamp.

Otboard preamp seems like a good idea. Don't mess with dat 'fish! :D
  6. That sucks if they are not making them anymore. I like the pJ one in burnt orange. Any close out deals. I wish they made a fretless.

More, zing, get new string, light guage, and raise your action my a mm or so.
