For those interested, I just finished my review of our very own Mr. Crackhousey's group, Vattel Cherry's Bassrespanse, for modernjazz.com. It's a great recording. Four Doublebasses!!

I just got the disk in the mail today. Very nice, not what I expected and that is what I was hoping for, I didn't need another copy of "The London Double Bass Sound" Shocking how it sounds like every one is in the same room having a great time and yet they are miles away. Thought I new what free jazz was after listening to Coltranes Sun Ship this proves I was wrong. Coming from a rock world I heard a hint of The Mothers and/or The Residents, probably only from the dissonance.
The difference is it is mostly done on the DB. Great Job DK, hope to hear more.

  3. Huh? We were in the same room at the studio. We all live far apart. I hate that blurb about being a "virtual ensemble" and what ever other sh*t it says there. It's misleading and says nothing about the music.

Thanks for the compliment thogh Muffslutty. If you live any where near NYC you can check us at the Knitting Factory. If not, tell me where you live and we'll come play in your living room. (or at the very least I'll let you know if we're ever gonna be in your area).

For a second there, I thought you were talking about MY review:confused: Then I realized it was the Owlsong page...... I was hoping not to mislead anyone:p

  5. It's that g*dd*mn Owlsong thing. It said the same friggin' thing in the ISB Convention program. Like, c'mon, how the hell is that supposed to entice people to come give a listen. Maybe at the convention people thought we were gonna play in different rooms or via an internet connection or something too.

Thanks again for the review Mont.

Well either way it is a nice disk. Yes I was under the impression that you guys were basically mailing each other the parts from what I read on the web page. Just an assumption from the distance phrase, figured it was pieced together at a later date. I knew nothing from owlsong but I liked what I read elsewhere. I even found myself humming some of the rhythmic breakdowns later in the day. I listen to a lot of different music and some of it takes a few listens to like, but this sounded great the first time through. The pluses for owlsong would be the service once you order. Quick response to the order, emailed again after shipment, and emailed again a couple days later with wishes of response to my views on the disk.
I live in MA so if you guys ever get up this way drop me a line
