Received my SX SPB-57 3/4 LPB Short Scale. This is my second SX the other being a SPJ-62 2TSB.

The short scale came with no dings or blemishes on the finish. The neck was not bowed and did not require no truss rod adjustments. I replaced the strings with some Ernie Ball Regular Slinkys. They improved the tone from the stock strings.

The neck of course has the 'orange' finish but is not as bright as some I've seen. My intent was to refinish the neck but after playing it I have decided to leave it alone. The pickups seems fine and appear to be the same as the P set on my SX PJ. I did need to make some saddle adjustments to improve the action. Intonation as spot on.

I am very impressed with the tone which is bold and cuts through pretty well for a short scale bass. The fret work is very good with no filing needed. It is fun to play!

Overall I'd rate it a B to B+. Very well build and worth the $109.

    Nice review. Two questions...

    Is there any neck dive?

How large is the body compared to a full size p-bass?
