This is an extremely rare Ribbecke Halfling designed with Bobby Vegan and made entirely by Tom Ribbecke. The revolutionary design of guitar or bass is where the soundboard is flat on the bass side & arched on the treble side. The Halflings™ are capable of large full fundamental bass response with the ability to hear and distinguish all the notes of a complex chord when ringing together. By combining the flat topped Steel String guitar with an Archtop Ribbecke combined the best of both worlds!

This bass is number 1007 of the inaugural halfling basses ever made. Gorgeous and flawless nitrocellulose finish on this bass. The bass was purchased at charity auction and being sold for the same price.

Halfling basses rarely come up for sale. The purchase includes the Cedar Creek custom case and priority overnight shipping.

    From Ribbecke Guitars:

Please note: the Bobby Vega Bass is in limited production and will only be built to order. Building each bass is extremely difficult and complicated. To maintain our high quality standards we will only be building these basses as a custom order; built specifically for a customers individual needs. This page lists all the current information and specifications for the Bobby Vega Bass.

If you appreciate a more versatile instrument, the Bobby Vega Bass' varied tonal palette will be perfect for you! It has a rich harmonic with a round, warm sound quality. The strings are physically longer, due to the tailpiece, making the feel a bit looser. The Bobby Vega Bass has an X braced, solid carved top which is flatter on the bass side and more highly arched on the treble side. It has a solid carved back and a 34" scale neck. The built in bridge pickup is custom made for us by Kent Armstrong.

That's a beauty. Just saw Jack Casady of Hot Tuna play one of these at a 2-set acoustic show with Jorma. That bridge set-up is like an upright. Nice! GLWTS, DM
