 It seems that the 4001's hold their value--they are very similiar in price to the new 4003's. I am not a professional, just love to play. What is your knowledge/advice on buying a vintage 4001 series verses a new 4003? Thank you in advance for your time---Steve

My school has a 1974 Rickenbacker 4001 Fireglo, and I own a 2003 Rickenbacker 4003 Jetglo. They're two totally different animals. Two different sets of controls, two very different tones, and two different feels. Play both and see which one you like better.
