    1957 Rickenbacker 4000 Bass
this is the ultimate Rick bass for any serious collector,
it is bass # 7 ever produced,it is a Mapleglo finish w/an ultra rare Mahogany neck-thru body that pre-dates the use of Walnut & Maple neck-thru's on these basses,Gold Lucite pickgard & truss rod cover,Horseshoe pickup,it's history dates back to 1957 when this young lady is photographed using it from day one w/her band! & is pictured on a poster w/the same band, with her holding it,it weighs in at a light 8 lbs. & was owned by her until this year when I aquired it,included is a photo diary from her daughter & a recent photo of her 4000...it is near mint, ohsc.

    PRICE: $25,000.00

    Very cool!

    It's for real...

Many respects for RIC. I love RICs, owned 4, though I decided to switch to something different.
Though, I never had that much interest for old RICs, especially the 4000 model... But I'm pretty sure someone may be ready to spend 25 grands for such a piece of history.
    Looks like a genuine one.

For anyone interested in the bass, I've dealt with Craig Brody before. He is a great guy to deal with and every price is negotiable.
  7. It's cool to see the '57 Rick 4000. My frist nice bass was a 1978 Rick 4000, so that model means something special to me.

A few months ago this very bass sold for $12,000 on ebay, and he has now doubling the selling price. In a worldwide auction it hit $12,000, and he thinks he'll get $25,000 on his private site? Crazy, in my opinion.
  14. I was thinking about the same thing when i saw this beauty..

Funkengrooven Turn it down? You gotta be nuts!!

I'm with Apollo.....the guy is nuts.
I would be hard pressed to spend that on any bass...

That's one awesome photo, Edword! And how can anyone forget Playboy magazine's Miss February, 1978, with her Azureglo 4001?

Really? A link even with a warning will get you banned? Sorry, folks – I thought a link with a clear NSFW warning would be acceptable.

Okay, I deleted the link from my post. It's still there in your post though, Petary!
