Just out of curiosity, does anyone here know what happened to Rick Laird AFTER his stint with Mahavishnu?

I always thought that he was a fantastic bassist, but I'm not familiar with anything he did in later years. To be honest, I don't even know if he's still alive!!

Any tidbits of info would be cool!!

funny you mentioned him. i was talking up Mahavishnu to some "metal-kid" the other day. Trying to convince him that Laird and McLauhglin were incredible...as well as Cobham and Corea. he just shrygged and shuffled off in his baggy jeans and limp bizkit hat.

  3. There was an article on Rick Laird in the November '99 issue of BP.. appropriately titled, "Where Are They Now: Rick Laird." It's on page 10.

Rick Laird is Always one of the first bass players I talk about when I talk about being a young bassist in search of a sound and a role model...a seminal player! Rick Danko is always a part of that same conversation.
