There was a review of this in the issue of Bass Player I got today. A local store has six Ric fives in stock, and the Fireglo bass caught my eye. This is the third time I have played one of these basses, and I think I am getting a handle on getting an optimal Rickenbacker tone. Although a Ric was my first good bass, it has been nearly thirty-five year since I played one regularly. This five is giving me some serious nostalgia!:)
I love the tone, but neck takes some getting used to.

    Nice Jetglo! ;) :D

As they always say: "Jetglo Rocks!"

I hope that you aren't trying to dispel the notion that they say one can't can't slap on a Rick. :smug: Good job, there, Cheese! :)

It is probably 17.5mm at the bridge with a very shallow D profile neck.

Yes it is. The guy at the store said it was Jetglo and I am not up on my Rickenbacker lingo.

Ah! I thought that, either, you had mistakenlyposted different videos than the Jetglo one you might have played, or you were pulling a prank on us. :D

I picked up a Midnight Blue version of this bass in the early spring and it has kind of been my go to for the last few gigs I've played. This bass is a serious rock machine and it definitely has the classic Rickenbacker tone, all in a 5 string package.

Quick question for you Doc. Did you notice much 60hz hum when you demoed the bass? Mine has quite a bit and is my only complaint about the bass.

I noticed it too. It was not bad in the store, but I bet in some settings it would be a pain. Rickenbacker should do like Fender and wire the bass where the pickups cancel
hum when they are at the same volume.

I played one of the new Ric 5 strings yesterday. It was the best feeling and playing Ric I have ever played. I was shocked.
