Rickenbacker - Beauty or Beast?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by stompfrog, Apr 7, 2005.

  1. Hello All! :)

We are not talking about the feel of the neck, sustain, pickup response, sweet spots or tone.

What I want to know is, based purely on LOOKS ONLY what people think about Rickenbacker basses?

I would have started a poll but couldn't work out how to do it?? :meh:

In my opinion they are HIDEOUS

    :bag:

The only bass I ever regretted selling. Definitely a beautiful vibe in both the looks and tone department.

  8. gorgeous

  9. I am feeling most outnumbered!

I have played one on breifly backstage at a gig once and it felt nice but wasnt plugged in so I have no ideas about sound.

They definatley have their own look which is good as you can spot a rickenbacker at a hundred paces. I just dont like it? oh well, each to their own...

The various Rickenbacker models look VERY different and they sound very different.

However, they are all beatiful to look at and to hear.

Beauty IMHO (that crested wave shape, the binding, the headstock, the finishes, hardware, etc, etc) ... but it's definitely a love or hate look, from what I've heard over the years.
