Recently I have been in the market for a brand new Rickenbacker. I have looked at some of the pictures of the ones that members here own and I am curious why some have dot markers and others have the triangle inlays. What are the offering now.

I know one of you Rickenbacker experts must have the answer.

the standard modern 4003 will have a triangle inlays. the dot markers are for some of the specialty models.

Dots can be found on the "S" models & the C64 & V63 series.

I'm looking at getting a 4003 and it doesn't hurt that I prefer the triangle inlays. After going around the Rickenbacker site for a bit I found the vintage models that have the dots and also noticed that the headstocks on the vintage models are shaped backwards from the way they are now. Personally, I like the new style better.

The C64 reverse headstock is in tribute to Paul McCartney. The (now discontinued) V63's had the normal headstock, as the the old "S" models.
