Rickenbacker really quite

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by MadPink, Dec 3, 2002.

  1. My rickenbacker 1974 4001 seems to be extremely quiet compared to my other basses. Yes I have the volume on the bass turn up. If I move the pick ups closer to the strings would this solve the problem? What do I do to move them?

    It should help.

There should be two screws near either end of the pickup (IIRC).
Get a screwdriver and turn them counter-clockwise (again, IIRC).
You should see that end of the pickup rising closer to the strings.
If it's moving away from the strings, then turn the screw the other way.

Has that got a "Ric-o-sound" output? (yeah, I should know this :p ).
If you're not running in stereo, let's eliminate the obvious and make
sure you're plugged into the other (mono) output.

    MadPink,
The neck p/u is NOT adjustable!!! If you try to adjust it you might crack your pick guard!
