Rickenbacker Taking Action Against Copies - New Basschat Policy

Discussion in 'Classifieds Usage Discussion and Help' started by TolerancEJ, Feb 25, 2019.

  1. I occasionally view instruments in the Basschat classified section and noticed this note stickied at the top of the page, time stamped approximately 11 hours ago. It seems that Rickenbacker has begun taking action to prevent copies from circulating. I am not aware of the details, but just a heads up that potentially a similar notice may be issued to TalkBass at some point, if one has not already been received.

  2. It's common on guitar player forums not to allow discussion or sale of knock-offs. I assume stemming from Gibson and/or Fender going after them in the past.

Ric used to be VERY diligent about copies... I used to hear about people posting copies on craigslist getting email from Rickenbackers lawyers. There are so many copies now that I suspect it would be impossible to enforce copyright/trademark/IP claims around the planet

Well Rickenbacker can try and come after me, but I'm not giving up my custom Ukenbacker 21" scale bass uke.

    Ukenbacker done 800.
