Hi, I do some electronic replacement on a friend's bass.
He got a standard 4003 neck pickup and a HB1 in bridge position, he will only use a 1 Vol and 1 Tone and switch pickup with a toggle (like the 4004 model).

    - Rickenbacker seems to use actually 330K pot on all their models, but some people seems to prefer a more vintage way or a mix of 250K or 500K, what do you think it will be the best on this setup?

    - 47nF for tone?

    - How do you think it's better to wire the HB1 pickup, series or parallel? I don't know how they are wired on 4004 bass or Lemmy's bass. For sure we will love do like Al Cisneros get his massive tone! (4003AC looks cool).

Thanks a lot for your help, really appreciated.

I use 500kohm on everything, because I don’t want to throw away high frequencies. I would wire the HB1 in series (although a switch might be nice) if you want “massive tone”. Post pics!

    Out there!
The HB-1 is already wired in series as stock from the factory.

Mine have four (five?) conductor wiring, so either option is available. But I believe “normal” factory wiring is series, yes?

Wire that HB1 in parallel so it's a closer match to the neck pickup's output level.

Yes. Of course, one can reconfigure it for parallel, if desired.

So if don't have any other suggestion I will certainly go for 500k

FYI, each coil is 7.5K Ω

I'm a bit afraid to have "too" treble with the 500K pots. But maybe I'm wrong.

So I put all in 500K, 47nF, we tried the HB1 in both wiring and series was really the best, after put the pickups on the same volume, the bass sounds awesome! Thanks.
