Just wanted to give a shout out to a very underrated player. Check out their live album...... http://www.amazon.com/Live-9-Club-M...2/ref=pd_bbs_sr_9/104-6226939-8499933?ie=UTF8 .....if you wanna hear impeccable taste, groove, and awesome warwick tone. Great songwriting as well.
i have live from the 9:30 club. It's a pretty good album. A lot of their stuff sounds the same (on this album at least). The bass player seems simple and solid. i didn't really hear any stretching out or craziness, which is okay with me. are their studio albums good, better?
One of the reasons I dig Mint Condtion is that they are a R&B band, with a bassist, drummer etc. I dig Kinchen's bass slung-very-low grooves. I killer live act!!!
Livin the Luxury Brown, or basically any of their albums. http://www.mintconditionmusic.com/main.htm One of the last 'true' R&B acts IMO.
If you really wanna hear him stretch out get the first album "Meant to be Mint" it's light years away from thier current stuff which is more radio oriented. Kinchen gets off on that one right from the very first song "Close to Thee".
I don't know about 'monster' but he's a very good & solid player! I can't stand the 'slung low' style he wears his bass though! Is he still slinging Warwicks?
I've seen MC 3 times over the years and this band incredibly freaking talented and tight! Rick is great player... The way he grooves and nails those arrangements is awsome!
Stokely is a badass on the drums as well. I first heard and saw him as a drummer, didn't know he sang until years later. here he's messing around at a sound check or something. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1q7KawXA_VI
Bumping this zombie thread. STILL love this album ... STILL wear my bass slung low ... STILL aspire to play such solid, supportive basslines, AND sing background vocals. Live at the 9:30 Club is on Spotify. Life is good
