Rig Bragging room

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Insighted02, Aug 29, 2002.

  1. I always am interested in what other bass players are running so I thought I'd put this post.

Just tell me about what you run (rigs only please),

and tell me how it's been working for you.

Give a tiny bit of background (if you want) about your style and the bass you use with it. I really am only interested in the amp and cabs though.

    Thanks!

    Mesa Boogie Powerhouse 1000 cab

    Schecter Elite 5
played in the style(kinda) of Tool/Deftones

This rig is able to cleanly keep up with(and drown out) a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier head with 4x12 rec cab. Nuff Said. Tone flexibility is awesome, too.

  5. well ok, if u insist

    Ampeg B2R
    Ampeg SVT-210HE
    Ampeg SVT-115E

soon to be additions: (probly :D )
Aphex 204 or 104, Eden CXM-112 (for small gigs and practise)

i'm running a Bass Collection 335 5 string and a 4 string custom p-bass fretless through it all.

sounds great IMO, nice distinctive, yet subtle tone.

Carvin R600 into 1 or 2 homemade 1X15 cabs. Full, deep bass with a nice mid-punch.

Fender P, Fender Musicmaster, Epiphone Jack Casady, or DeArmond Ashbory... A Danelectro Longhorn also commands respect through the rig...

    Carvin DCM1000 (juice)
    Two Eden D-410XLTs.

I use a passive MTD Kingston 5 and an EMG equiped Ibanez GSR200. I play metal, and all things aggressive.

The setup works great, it's insanely loud, and gets low enough to have made one person sick. I'm doin just fine. :D

  10. GK 400RB III 210 combo with a 115 RBS cab.
GK 1001 RB, 410RBH and 115 RBH cabs.

    Digitech BP 200 bass processer.

    Rickenbacker 4001
    Fender Jazz bass

I play metal , rock and Rush. The Rickenbacker played through the 1001 with the horn loaded cabs is very loud and the treble punch will cut you in half. Having a great time!!

My stuph is in the pic below. Currently I'm using what's in the rack, not the parametric sitting up top.

Signal chain: bass, SansAmp Bass Driver DI (sometimes), Alembic tube preamp, Rane split-band compressor, Aphex enhancer, Stewart power amp.

The Alembic has a very basic EQ, but is either very clean or has a smidge of tube warmth. The split band compressor works on highs and lows separately; when levels are properly set it is very transparent. The Aphex adds girth and clarity. The Stewart amp takes this tone and makes it a lot louder with no tone coloration and tons of headroom.

I run this signal through SWR Goliath series cabinets: either a pair of 2x10 or one 6x10.

I may replace the Alembic with the TC parametric preamp. The TC is solid state, but extremely clean and transparent, and the EQ section is incredibly powerful and versatile. Parametric EQs are not user friendly, and easily overused, but once you get the hang of 'em they give you exactly what you want. I never use much EQ, but it's there when I need it (or want it).

Overall: my rig is powerful, versatile, and extremely quiet. It is extremely clean and transparent except when I use the SansAmp, which adds its own style of tone coloration.
