So, I got a used SKB 4space rack today.
Two Spaces will be occupied by my Yorkie
One other will be filled with a Korg Tuner

    Sooooo
What should I put in the last remaining spot?

    Compressor? Preamp?
(Suggestions as to which compressor or preamp would be marvelous)

A friend of mine suggested a power conditioner but I plan on just using a surge protector Velcro'd in the back....

    Sooooo

Don't fill it just because it's there. Leave it empty, or put a cover on. Leave room for everything to breathe.

Given the choice of either extra ventilation vs. what for 99% of the time equals a pricey and flashy power strip, I'd choose the extra ventilation.

Power conditioners are a waste. Leave it until you need t fill it. Use a power strip. Does the same thing as a "power conditioner" does really.

  8. Mount the power conditioner in the back if it has rails there.

    Right on, thanks guys.

Any Idea as to where I could obtain one of those crosshatched vents?
That's actually a good idea, I just think it'd look weird having just a wide open spot..

If you do a google search on "1 rack space vent panel" (without the quotes) you'll get a bunch of google shopping hits, including Amazon and B&H amongst other well known names. Should run you 10 bucks, give or take. The one I posted was from B&H, who I've dealt with regularly with great results.

Go to amazon.com and search for 1u rack panel.
