    Hey...

Got a question on setting up my rig!

I'm running an SWR Super Redhead, Son of Bertha cabinet, Korg DTR-1 tuner, Behringer MDX1400 compressor/limiter and Rosco LG-3005 bass.

My question is, what is the best configuration to incorporate the mute feature on the DTR-1, because I don’t like the popping sound on the extra cabinet when the amp is turned on? Obviously, I also want the BEST sound quality possible.

Also, can you recommend settings on the MDX1400? My style of playing is HARD. I usually play combinations of slap and various finger styles.

I just want to play the bass, not get an engineering degree so I can setup my equipment!

    Thanks,

    Rick

i don't know about the tuner mute feature, but i would suggest simply leaving the speaker switch in the off position when you turn the power on, then turn on the speaker(s). there shouldn't be a pop, i don't think. i have a bass 750, and if the speaker switch is on when i turn on the amp, i get a pop. if the speaker switch is off, and i turn it on after the power, there's no pop.

here are two more things. if you ran the son of bertha with an external amp from the pre-outs, you may not get the pop then. but that would be a pain. also possibly you could get an amp tech to make sure the ext. speaker jack is wired to the speaker on/off switch. if i'm understanding the situation correctly, that should do it.

also, you might want to take each unit (tuner, comp) out of the signal chain one at a time and then play the amp to see if they are the source of the pop.

Hey, how does the Redhead work with the BIg Ben, I have a Super Redhead and have been thinking about getting either a Big ben 18", a SOB 15" or a goliath or goliath jr, what do you think?
