Saw him at the Muse on Nantucket Island back in the day with his band the Lower 911. From another planet musically. RIP Night Tripper.

RIP - NOLA won’t be the same, kinda like when Fats, Toussaint and other NO legends left us over the years.

I saw him at Jazzfest in New Orleans years ago in the 90's. Great show! It was around that time he had a duet with Rickie Lee Jones, Makin' Whoopee. RIP

I’m sad about this. Mac was truly an original, one of a kind. A musician’s musician. I wore out his Gris-Gris vinyl back when it came out.

He had a good, full life of great accomplishments, not the least of which was kicking a serious heroin addiction and remaining sober the last ~30 years of his life. I’ll be celebrating in his second line, from 700 miles away.
