Under-rated band - nothing but good and catchy songs, music and lyrics.

The 60's had surfboards and "Surf" music, The Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, The Surfaris, The Chantays, The Ventures....

The late 70s and early 80s had skateboards, and thanks to The Cars, those of us who were kids and serious about skateboarding had our skateboard music. They were our "Surf" music.

Thanks for the music and being a part of my youth, RIP Ric...

Dang, RIP. He was older than I thought (70). I really dug the Cars' first two albums, and Ocasek's ability as a pop songwriter was remarkable. What often gets overlooked is his resume as a producer! Here are just some of his more notable credits.

RIP Ric, the music of the Cars is just amazing. Incredible history as a producer too.

Man, The Cars had that perfect combination of pop and rock. And they always had style. And Ric, with that jet black hair and signature shades, was the face of the band, for sure.

    Thanks for the great music.

A very smart cat who really understood the craft of pop/rock hook writing.
