    LONDON, England -- Rock singer Robert Palmer has died in Paris of a heart attack at the age of 54, his manager said.

    The British star, whose chart hits in the 1980s included "Addicted to Love," suffered the attack in the early hours of Friday morning, Mick Cater said.

    My father turned me on to Robert Palmer years before his upswing in popularity with The Power Station and all that came after it. I was disappointed to see him fall under the radar screen - he really was a classy and dynamic performer. Last time I saw him was with the Max Weinberg 7 backing him up a few years ago.

    54 years old. Wow.
