For a vacation/roadtrip, you definitely need the 'Holiday Road' song from the vacation movies. Classic.
    As for the three albums:

    Hot Rats - Frank Zappa
Lost Dogs & Mixed Blessings - John Prine
Full Moon Fever - Tom Petty

  8. Every extended trip I make sure to bring the Illusion of Safety by Thrice

I tend to bring an MP3 player along, but I generally have a collection of progressive metal uploaded on including Watchtower, Aghora, and Sunn O))) ((((((((((great for those long journeys)))))))))).
