What's the deal on these Basses or any comparable fretless basses? Thanks
how do you mean? price deal?
the only other brands that i think are similar:
Carvin AC series....close, but the Rob Allen line wipes the deck with an AC4/50.
Villette has some similar designs to the RA.
in my opinion, Rob makes some of the nicest basses out there.
now, if he'd only ditch the piezo and go Lightwave.
i'm tempted to buy a beatup one and have Lightwaves retrofitted.
I'd like to hear the sound, but it sure would look horrible...
Also, I'll bet you will not find a beat up rob allen bass.
really? why is that?
i think the monlith bridge would look pretty cool.
as i said, i'd buy a trashed one to try it out on.
i could never bring myself to modify a sweety Rob Allen.
The perspective is all wrong so it looks worse than it would have to -
but I prefer the wooden bridge. Not too shabby though, I guess.
Edit: I think we just hijacked this thread... sorry about that. This should be split off into a separate thread if anyone is interested.
Back to discussing fretless Rob Allens...
wow, i love that TOP!!!!
Rob sure knows how to pick wood!
Yes, all mine! Amazing claro walnut. Full pic here.
But I kind of wish it was fretless...
VERY nice, i know what you mean about the fretless.
i had one for a while.
absolutely adored it. neck problems made me return it.
unusal for a Rob Allen.
have you contacted Rob about converting it?
My fretting over de-fretting was discussed in this thread. I have some time ago ordered a fretless J-Series bass from Overwater, so I'll wait until I get that to decide whether I want or need a fretless Rob Allen. I wanted to de-fret the RA to make it over the waiting period, I can't afford another bass right now. I have decided to keep the RA as it is, it would be a shame to ruin it.
