Hello everyone, I've got a question for ya guys. Well I've been watching some Metallicas "making of" videos ( this one was of Moth into Flame to be specific ) and I saw this beautiful bass. The thing is I am either bad at googling stuff or this one doesn't exist at all. Here's the one: Isn't it a beauty? Anyone's got an idea what kind of a bass that might be? It would definitely go on my wishlist! Thanks for your help in advance. JAMES
It could be custom made tho, what do you think? But that would mean (well according to logic) it would appear in his signature basses (which he has a lot tbh), buuuut it does not... Well it's time to dig thru all models of ESP and LTD then, until I find it or someone will save my poor soul. EDIT: I just checked, his signature basses seem to be Warwicks, lawl
yeah, gotta go with a custom esp. kirk and james have been endorsing esp for decades. looks like esp snagged robert to complete the collection. or it's a one-off, custom build built for him. the green one above looks like his fernandes. what a coinky-dink...
If you remember the movie where they were auditioning for a new bass player, Metallica's got a room full of basses that belong to the band. He may have just come across it there, and decided to use it for a session or two.
Rob is one of those guys that has a Sig model, but still plays a million other basses. He does use his Warwicks, but that guy has an insane collection of rare basses. As others have said, it looks like an ESP headstock, but who knows if it is a custom built or some kind of frankenbass. It is a nifty finish whatever it is.
I'm pretty sure this was referred to as "ESP Trujillo signature" on the Metallica site, never seen it put on the market by ESP though....
Still is: Members - Band - Metallica "ESP 5 string Trujillo model" He also had an endorsement with Fernandes and a signature model by Zon (Sonus RT/RTK) Sonus RT4 & RT5 - Zon Guitars Zon Guitars
So he says. I'm a little suspicious about that. Unless someone has a serial number, I can't go on "it feels like it."
Trujillo probably has companies from across the globe throwing stuff at him, hoping he'll give them a shot. He certainly does have a mix of basses on tour with him... does a great job of spreading the love.
