I was/am watching the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage festival, and caught Rockin' Dopsie Jr.'s set, and their bass player was smokin'! He was rocking it on a Conklin GT-7, actually. Really going to town, while not over playing. Anyone know who he is?

I can't say that this is the bassist you saw, but credits are given to Alonzo Johnson as the bassist on several of Rockin' Dopsie, Jr and the Zydeco Twisters' albums.

Johnson has been featured in Bass Player magazine in the past.

You were very lucky to have seen this band live. I can imagaine the energy was just terrific. If they ever come my way, I want to see them too.

Uh, maybe I was unintentionally misleading, but I said watching...not attending. It's on a channel called Trio. Actually, it's still on today.
