    Do you need a booster? If so, then this is a contender.

    Bongo (IIRC) didn't care too much for this comp. However, as a sustain enhancer, I loved it. YMMV.

    Another Tube Screamer.

    I prefer the Deep Blue. Better chorusing, IMO.

    I figured with the price of the tsunami, I'd ask
    I don't know if I need a booster, LOL
    I want to be able to add a little grit to my sound, I can pretty much get this by turning my gain knob on my amp up, but I'd like a little more control of it
    I don't need any help with sustain, I'm looking for something to "squash" the sound when needs be.

    I like Rocktron pedals. Great build and value for money. Sound good too (which is the important bit! :smug:). At those prices, they're a steal!

    how would one decide between the two overdrives without having a chance to try them first

    I actually am using a Rocktron voodu valve for all the bass on my bands upcoming album. Rocktron makes excellent products.:bassist:
