What are your opinions on the rogue 4 string fretless bass?

The only ones I have played were incredibly inexpensive, and pretty much looked like it.
That said, a couple of them played pretty nicely, and didn't sound half bad.

    Play a couple if possible.

  3. It's a cookie cutter, entry-level fretless.

You'd be better off occasionally perusing the classifieds here. There's at least one smoking deal there that i know about as I type this.

they're cheap student instruments, but they could always be worse. they work.

I would probably look for a better fretless used. I don't know what your budget is but Rogue is as mentioned, more of a beginner instrument. Not awful, but not all that great either.
The one Rogue bass that's actually pretty decent is the Beatle bass the VB100.
