Hello everyone! I recently rediscovered an old Rolls Matchbox DB25 that I got my hands on forever ago. I'd been toying around with the idea that my drive pedals (each with clean blends) might sound better with the SansAmp before them in the signal chain, rather than after them, as I had been doing all along. Finding that Rolls Matchbox made me considering the possibility of rearranging my board to have the SansAmp earlier in the chain, and adding the Matchbox at the end for the occasional DI only gigs I play. Does anyone out there have any experience routing their signal like this, and can anyone speak to the value (sound/construction) of the Matchbox? I've never used it live. Thanks!
I don't know for the match box, but if I don't need to DI I prefer to have my sansamp early in my chain, at first, and then go into effects... That sounds best that way to me. I always prefer to have the sansamp processed sound in the others... I find it change the way the sansamp reacts when I add other distortions or effect before, surely because the sound of the bass is buffered by my other effects, but it changes something, it's noticable... It costs nothing to try, see if you like !!
Thanks JP! I figured the overwhelming response would be to just give it a go, but I'm looking for insight as the next bs gtr gig for me is a big outdoor fest. I don't want that one to be the litmus test.
