Ron Carter '65

    Does anyone have an idea/information about Ron Carter's set-up on the Plugged Nickel sets from 1965? His sound is incredible on these recordings.......

    I believe he used the Juzek with guts.

    If you listen carefully, RC and Scott LaFaro (from the Vanguard recordings) have similar sounds: gut strings and low action. Also, while his bass on the recordings sounds great, that doesn't mean that was the sound you heard live. From what I've heard from those who saw that band live, you couldn't really hear Ron. Remember, those recordings, while live, are still mixed in the studio, and they definitetly brought the bass up.
