Check out his bass playing on Jeff Becks Truth and Beck-Ola.
I believe Bob Welch (ex Fleetwood Mac guitarist) also played bass on his solo album "French Kiss", and he lays down some pretty good funk.
One of the best, Phil Upchurch. Richie Kotzen also plays killer bass.
Stephen Stills (yes, of CSNY) lays down some funky low end.
Hamish Stuart...McCartney hired him. Denny Laine, too.
I'm not sure, between Winwood and Mason, who did what on which song, but the first two Traffic albums, especially these tracks(even though the recording is kinda murky)...
And definitely just Winwood here later on(although it could be organ foot pedals)...

Actually, one of my favorite bass players, I won't hold it against him just because he played guitar also...

Lenny Kravitz. He's a little bit good at everything.
All the bass on the first(CSN)album is Stills; I think he played bass on a few tracks of the final Buffalo Springfield album as the band was fragmenting, the final single, "Special Care" in particular. Jammed with Jimi on bass.

It wasn't exactly that; Page was making too much money as a session guitarist at the time. Granted, he had gotten off the road and into the studio as gigging was running him down(even at a young age), but as he was first call 'rock' guitarist for a huge number of sessions, he was making serious bank. By '66, he had grown bored with the routine, and jumped at the chance to play out again with a band he liked.
