I'm buying an SX fretted maple/maple P bass neck on Monday. I know they have a light laquer finish. Is that enough to use as is or should I plan on doing my own finishing?

Also, can anybody recommend an online source for a good nut to fit this neck?

Thanks guys. I'll get both from Stewmac. Are there any particular brands you recommend? Or nut materials?
