Roots' bassist - What Kind bass is it?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Batmensch, Jan 13, 2012.

  1. Can anyone tell me what bass it is the bassist for the Roots (Jimmy Fallon's house band) uses? It's a semi-acoustic ES-335 type with what look like dual Gibson style mudbuckers, and what appears to be a "W" on the headstock.

Sounds like a Warwick Star bass.

I saw The Roots play live on 12/29 -- what a MONSTER performance! Those guys can play anything and have a fun time doing it.

Here's a crappy pic I took -- my phone battery was nearly dead so I didn't have time to experiment and adjust settings. :(

I saw that bass It looked awesome
Next to the guitar players red Gibson like they matched or something
What happened to the other guy that was plying bass? White guy 6 string bass
I've been listening to the Roots since do you want more?
Thought they were interesting since they actually play real instruments

He also plays an unusual solidbody - not the green one that he favors, but a burst one that looks like it might be a vintage Kay or something? Anyone know?

From what I read it's a Warwick Star II bass. Not sure what the differences are but that's what Warwick says.

I LOVE the Roots. Best band on TV hands down.

Owen Biddle used to play bass for them, but the guy they have now rips too.
