Great bass, terrific tones, very versatile, and arguably the best passive 5 that Fender has ever made.

However, it will NOT get you a stingray sound.

  3. I Play a SR5 and a RBV. They are very different basses. It may be almost possible with an outboard preamp.

  4. I owned an RB5, a Stingray5, and currently a G&L L1500.

The RB5 will not do Stingray. It won't do P-bass, either.
That aside, it nails vintage J tone, as it was designed to do.

If you want the Stingray tone, get a Stingray or L1500.
