Rostosound wirewound???

Discussion in 'Strings [BG]' started by relman, Apr 1, 2001.

  1. Does anyone know the actual name of these strings?
These were supposedly the ones used by JPJ....

  2. do you mean the exposed core Rotosound roundwounds?
    they're the RS99 "piano-string design" ones.

  3. those are quite bright, aren't they?

  4. yeah, they're reputed to be brighter than the standard swing bass set.
Stanley Clarke and Percy Jones (Brand X) have used them too.

I think JPJ used only flatwounds on his Jazz bass with Led Zeppelin.
(roundwounds on the 52 precision and the Alembics, and currently on the Manson basses)

  5. what kind of flats did he use?roto?fender?

  6. I think they were Labella flats...they could have been Roto Jazz flats, especially later on when he was using Roto rounds on the other basses.

I read somewhere before that he used Roto flats.
