hey all. i was wondering if any of you have tried Rotosound nickels. what is your opinion of them? i really don't like the steel swing bass strings that everyone raves about. thanks all!...

They're great strings! If you don't like the feel of the standard
RS66 stainless set, you might try the RS55 "Solo Bass" set,
which are the compression wounds...A little more pricey,
    but they are very nice..

    Good luck

thanks man..! what about the swing bass nickels?

  4. I've used them and I think they're excellent. The only problem is the price, but I found an authorized dealer down in Boca Raton that sells them for $20 (for a 5 string set). That's as cheap as Slinkys.....
Anyhow, reasonably long life, not as much "zing" as the stainless, mellower tone....well balanced. Not quite as smooth as the Fender 8250's but use a little "Fast Fret" and you're set.....

Remember....tone is subjective, if you're looking for the Swing Bass sound without the stainless bite and snappiness...these are it. Beautiful blue silks too, if I remember correctly.......

thanks all! about the swing bass nickel... are they pure nickel or nickel plated steel? how do they compare to the roto bass strings (rb 40 or 45)?
