I just wanted to post some info on the headphone amp I made using the ruby schematics.

I followed the bassman mods almost completely. I played around with gain resistors to get something I liked. I will probably replace with a trimpot in the future.

I use poster putty to secure the battery and board. The board goes in an electrostatic bag first though. It was hard to get standoffs in the case so that will have to do.

That's pretty cool. I like the case for it! I would go to radio shack and get a project box for it, myself. I have been thinking of doing some simpler designs like this, and also the mxr microamp.

I was thinking about a project box from radioshack but they are mostly plastic. While breadboarding the project I was getting some interference. It doesn't help when there is a repeater tower a half a mile outside your window. So I wanted an all metal box. A bonus is this fits in my back pocket. And yes, the whole project is grounded to the box. The ground connects tot he box at the volume pot. I took the lug that attached to ground and put a jumper wire to the washer that came with the pot. I scratched all some of the coating by the pot then. I tested with a continuity tester by touching a ground pad on the perfboard with the bottom of the box. My tester beeped :)

With the project boxes, I would line it with copper shielding tape. Just be nice to that case, as I am sure it could dent pretty easily.
